UdeC recognizes heroes of the neurodiverse world

At noon this Tuesday, in the boardroom of the Rectory, Christian Jorge Torres Ortiz Zermeño, rector of the University of Colima, presented the prizes to the winners of the contest "Highlighting heroes of the neurodiverse world." They are: Carmen Figueroa Flores and Grecia Preciado Chávez (first place in team), Kenya Silva Zúñiga (second place in individual mode); Mariana Valdovinos Farías and Jesús Aguilar Salazar (third place in team mode), and Jorge Arriaga Benhumea, who received an honorable mention for his personal career.

In his message, the rector congratulated the winners of the contest and thanked them for their participation in this institutional strategy linked to the international project UNDERSTAND, of which the University is a part and which seeks to solve the various needs of neurodiverse students to contribute to the achievement of their career. school and professional.

He indicated that the University works to be at the forefront in this type of support, for which it has joined this proposal together with other higher education institutions in Europe and Latin America that consider inclusion as one of the indicators of educational quality; "We must move to environments of inclusion and accessibility to improve the admission, retention, achievement and employment prospects of students, especially our students with neurodiversity."
